VCS for Ethernet interfaces with your Ethernet NIC at 10 or 100 Mhz. It decodes over 250 varieties of Ethernet packets, and also decodes TCP/IP (with auto-recursion of contained protocols), IPX, NetBIOS, encapsulated HDLC, SDLC, 802.x, NBxS, ARP/RARP, DNS, and more. Extensive Filter and Find capabilities reduce time to analyze protocols. Timestamp resolution to under 1 microsecond. Capture to buffer / unlimited disk file. Views include Frame, Event, and Statistics. Transmit utility is included.
VCS ProtocolWorks is integrated with VCS Ethernet to provide the capability to design, modify, and test custom or existing protocols. With it, you can edit a protocol decode script in a text editor, reload the decodes and see the results in VCS Viewer Frame View.
A utility enables you to prototype capture files, so you can create and explore expected packets. Coupled with the interactive decode capability, you can design and debug a protocol before implementing protocol handler software.
